Chinese Bilingual Education
Our Bilingual Journey
Plympton International College became the first bilingual Chinese school in South Australia in 2017. Since then, we have been a lighthouse school for Chinese language learning, supported by both the Department for Education and the University of South Australia.
From Reception to Year 2, students participate in daily Chinese lessons that form the foundation for success in the bilingual program. Across primary and secondary, bilingual teachers deliver learning through Chinese in Health & Physical Education (H&PE), Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), and the Arts, creating meaningful cross-curricular learning opportunities.
Our bilingual approach is not simply about learning another language — it is about building global competence. Students experience authentic cultural and linguistic immersion, develop confidence in two languages, and learn to think flexibly across different contexts.
