Specialist Cricket Program

We are pleased to announce the inaugural Specialist Cricket Program at Plympton International College launching in 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for Year 7 and 8 students commencing Term 1 2027. The program is designed to support students in developing both their cricketing ability and personal growth.

Our vision is to create a high-performance environment, where students are supported to become not only skilled athletes, but more importantly resilient, respectful and humble young people who carry the values of the game and their school into life beyond the classroom.

The program is underpinned by a strong set of core values which are respect, responsibility, innovation and excellence. These values guide everything we do and ensure that students grow as well-rounded individuals while pursuing their passion for cricket and sport.

Program Overview

The Specialist Cricket Program is working closely with the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA), the Department for Education and Flinders University. It aims to develop young cricketers, globally minded individuals and confident, reflective learners by providing high-quality coaching, education and opportunities both on and off the field.

Students in the program benefit from:

Specialist coaching in batting, bowling, wicket keeping and fielding.
Access to high-performance training methods including biomechanics, video analysis and fitness development relevant to all sports.
Learning in areas such as sports psychology, coaching, exercise physiology, nutrition and performance analysis.
Opportunities to participate in competitive pathways and school competitions.
Development of leadership, teamwork and personal character skills.
Career Pathways including the following: Certificate 3 in Fitness, Diploma in Sports Management (Cricket) and Guaranteed entry into Flinders University, Bachelor of Health Science, and Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Sports Management).

The program is designed as a development pathway, supporting students from participation and enjoyment in the early years through to high performance, leadership, and future career pathways in senior years. Student’s will have the opportunity to obtain their Cricket Australia Level 1 Coaching Accreditation and Level 1 Umpiring Course.

Through this structure, students are supported to reach their full potential both within cricket and in life beyond school. Please note as this program is a special interest program the school reserves the right to withdraw any student from the cricket program if they do not consistently demonstrate positive behaviour and a commitment to their learning.

Commitment and Opportunities

Students participate in the program throughout the year, engaging in regular training and learning experiences. The program also offers opportunities to gain nationally recognised qualifications such as coaching and umpiring accreditation, helping students build pathways into employment and community involvement.

Students will also be supported in the process of joining premier cricket clubs within the local area; Glenelg District Cricket Club, Sturt District Cricket Club and Adelaide Cricket Club.

Students will also participate in various school based and external competitions providing valuable learning experiences. An expectation of student’s commitment to the program is parent involvement within external competitions.

– Entry into the program requires a full year commitment.

– Parents are expected to support through scoring and team management.

Enrolment

The Specialist Cricket Program includes an application process for entry.

Students are encouraged to demonstrate a passion for sports, commitment to improvement and the ability to maintain strong academic performance and exemplary behaviour. The programs yearly fee is $375, if students are successful upon application a deposit of $50 is required to secure their enrolment.
